Allie & Ray had the time of their life gathering sticks for the fire. They would poke the long ones in the stream ("fishing") and then fry their catch in the fire. There was plenty of food (isn't there always when your camping), but all we really ate was smores & breakfast. Hanne made the best pancake batter from scratch and the bacon & sausage were divine. I am a complete breakfast fan, so it really hit the spot. I ate so much I don't think I ate again till 7pm that night! The girls on the other had were to busy taking it all in to eat.
Kylie loved the experience as much as Allie, but she was a bigger mess. I tried to put her in the playpen outside, but she didn't agree and squealed constantly. Finally, I relented and let her crawl around in the dirt. (It sure will be nice when she finally decides to walk.) It is funny how the little things can make kids the happiest. She played mostly with sticks & rocks, or a discarded plastic cup. As soon as we got home I striped the girls at the door & put everything in the washer. Then it was straight to the tub.

I'm so glad that I had taken the time to write my summer goals earlier that day. My automatic answer to an invitation to camp with only the clothes on our backs, was NO! But since I had intentionally decided to relax & let the girls have a playful summer, I gave it a shot. Boy was I rewarded!!! I had forgotten how relaxing it is to sit around a campfire, just staring at the flames & telling old stories. Our walk through the forest was calming- we saw fish in the stream & a wild sheep in the campground. I am so greatful for such wonderful friends to put up with our camp crashing.

Imprompto is sometimes the BEST, noe stress in planning and no expectations, with no expectations nothing can go wrong, well almost....
That does sound like so much fun- thank you for writing this it makes me want to relax more and let the girls play. Way to be independent and stay with the two little ones. You all look like you had a great time.
This campout was so not-me. I mean I love camping, but I really like the planning and packing. I'm not that spur of the moment usually, but it was great. Having no expectations key. We just went with the flow. i'm so glad.
Sarah,
Thank you for inviting me into your blog. I should have known you would have a blog. I remember now how much you love to scrap book. At least that is what I am remembering. You and your sisters and mom get away for a couple days a year and scrap book away right? At least that is what I am remembering.
Your girls are adorable! I like your goals for the summer! I have 5...1) Pass Grad Statistics, 2) Defend my Thesis successfuly by July, 3) Have a successful GEAR UP Summer Academy (work),4) Have a successful Stake Youth Conference (I'm in the Stake YW), and 5) Finish all house projects before the baby comes! Maybe one more... Take a vacation when it is all over! Best to you on your goals! I know you'll reach every one of them. You are an amazing woman! A great role model for anyone!
Thanks again! Take care!
So I just had to say in that one picture you can totally tell that I have my sweatshirt on backwards!
