The last thing I wanted to do was push the seed further in or do damage to the inner ear, but I figured I should make a few attempts to get the seed out. First, I tried spraying water in his ear to flush the seed out. I used a large needle-less syringe, but the seed didn't move. Tweezers were out since it was so snug in the ear tube, but I could see a little space under the seed since the tube wasn't as round as the seed. Kylie was crawling all over me as I attempted a delicate manuver. Carefully I pressed up on the seed from below with a toothpick. PLOP! The seed fell out. WOOAH! What relief for both Kai and I. He was all smiles as we put this prized seed in a zip-lock baggie to take home. Right on cue his mom knocked on the door. I felt silly for 'allowing' it to happen in the first place, but at least we were able to get it out with no harm done.
As for Allie, she lied about her involvement for over 15 minutes despite the other kids tattling on her before she finally fessed up. I think that is what disturbs me the most about the whole incident. And this is far form the first lie we've heard from her. In fact telling the truth has been a daily lesson at our house the past few weeks. If you have any ideas on how to teach your kids not to lie, I'd love to hear. Obviously what we are doing isn't working.

I think all kids go through a lying stage. Rayden tries to blame Simon for everything even if there is no way he could have done it. I'm still looking for a solution to work with Ray.
Hey, I'm the grandma so I may be bias but I don't think she is actually lieing. More like lying...you know lying around waiting for the scary situation she's found herself in to go away. Self preservation can be a strong motivator when you figure out you did something bad and consequences will follow. So keep the consequences but lighten up on the quilt at first. maybe that will help. It never did with you guys but the books liked the idea. Good luck.
wow I've missed so many posts!!! I've been using google reader and just assumed it would tell me when you posted, guess not!!!
glad you got out the popcorn, I would have freaked out!!!
Lying.... good luck with that one, with Tucker he couldn't play the rest of the day or next day if it was late at night, you have to find her currancy so to speak. what's important to her?
Sounds like quite the adventure! I obviously have no experience teaching kiddos not to lie (we're not there yet) but my VT told me they struggled forever with her son and they finally went through and read every scripture on lying and honesty with him and it worked! She said it took a lot of nights and weekends of reading scriptures (not a bad thing) but they've never had a problem since. Not sure if she's too young for that, but who knows, it could work! Good luck!
