Why do I Blog?

Life is so fast & furious with 3 young children, working from home, ect that I fear I will forget the lovely details of my girls' precious childhood.

My main motivation for blogging is to capture the every day moments...so I don't forget them before I have a chance to scrapbook. Sharing with you is just an added bonus. Keeping this blog has helped me get the photos off my camera's memory card and label/organize them on my laptop. It is the BEST tool I have for scrapbooking. I haven't ever been able to keep a journal, but this I can do. I don't pretend to have anything interesting to say. In fact I'm sure this little blog is boring to you, but to me it is priceless!

2 the Harvest continues

Please excuse the greasy hair and PJs in the pictures. Last Saturday I did another 14 Quarts for Peaches. My wonderful in-laws picked them up for me when they got their own in Brigham Ciry. They hunted around and got them for half the price I paid for my first few boxes 2 weeks ago.

I bought my peaches driving home from Layton. The girls were asleep in the car and I didn't want to shop around. The only variety that the first stand I came to had was called 'Elegant Ladies'. Oh my! They were worth the money!!! They are very large and full of flavor. However, I wasn't at peace with my purchase until I tried a few of my new batch of the old reliable 'Early Alberta' variety. Instead of 2 large peaches, I had to pit at least 6 small onse to fill a jar, plus the Albertas were bruised.

Half way through my ripe box of Albertas, I decided to set aside the bruised fruit I was cutting out, and half or whole peaches that were just too mushy to can (instead of just chucking it in the trash). By the end I had enough 'scrap' fruit to make a double batch of peach jam!

Today I've got to can the last box that weren't ripe enough last weekend. Wish me luck!

Ugg...if the rewards weren't so great I'd feel bad about teaching you how to do all of this. keep going, you can quit canning when you hit 40 years old, that's what my sisters told me. HAHA
